Answer
The All-Island Strategic Rail Review includes a roadmap which sets out a potential timeline for the delivery of interventions across three time horizons: short-term interventions to be delivered by 2030, medium-term interventions to be delivered between 2030 and 2040, and long-term interventions to be delivered between 2040 and 2050.
The Department continues to work with our colleagues in the Department of Transport, Translink, Iarnród Éireann and NTA, with the assistance of European Investment Bank consultants, to consider the recommendations in the Review and develop a plan for implementation. This work is expected to continue over the next number of months.
Translink are also undertaking several feasibility studies, linked to recommendations in the Rail Review, which are due to report in the coming months. The outcomes from these studies and the work with our southern colleagues will help inform my prioritisation of projects to progress as funding opportunities arise.
